The project is an experimentation with recycled materials in a festival setting in Richmond, Victoria. The community gathering in Victoria Street, Richmond for the Vietnamese Lunar New Year is always a special annual event. In 2017, the Richmond Asian Business Association (RABA) organized a Noodle Eating Competition under a 40 square metre pavilion. Vietnamese traditional noodle soup is famous worldwide and very popular for its tasty flavour. We proposed to use the plastic bowls which local restaurants always use for take away to create the pavilion as a comment toward the contemporary food culture and its potential to use recycling materials in different ways to create a more sustainable food industry.
